Professor Tania Aspland is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts at the Australian Catholic University. Appointed as Executive Dean in late 2014, she has also held the positon of National Head of Education and Head of Education NSW/ACT at ACU within the Faculty. Prior to ACU, she was a Professor in Education at the University of Adelaide, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Edith Cowen University in Western Australia.
Professor Aspland has been a leader in teacher education and curriculum development for many years and has been engaged in a number of research projects in higher education pedagogies and transnational education. She has led innovative change processes in undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs across Australia and she has been a leader of teacher professional development through higher degree programs and doctoral supervision internationally. Professor Aspland has recently launched ACU mentoring – National Mentoring in Education Hub which includes professional development programs and a range of pathways into formal study exploring mentoring for teachers, school or early learning centre leaders across career stages.
Professor Aspland has supervised multiple Higher Degree Research students and has been the recipient of a number of grants, and published over 40 articles. Professor Aspland represents various Education institutions and is the President of the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE) and a Director of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
