Discipline of Psychology

Breadcrumbs

The Discipline of Psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast is committed to education, research and evidence-based practice. A psychology degree from USC is the first step in a fulfilling and lifelong career that is both varied and engaging.

At the undergraduate level, we offer a variety of programs with APAC-accredited psychology sequences *. Our degrees offer students choice, allowing them to tailor their learning to their interests. The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and the Bachelor of Arts give students a solid foundation in psychology as they study areas including basic psychological principles, social psychology, personality and assessment, research methods, cognitive and perceptual psychology, and human development.

To further add to the university experience, our students can apply to Study Overseas to undertake courses with an overseas higher education provider. The academic credit gained from their overseas study is counted towards their current USC program, ensuring they are not behind their cohort upon return.

We offer a range of programs allowing further study in psychology including the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) (Honours), the Master of Psychology (Clinical) and PhD programs. These psychology programs are accredited with the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council *.

From 2015 we will offer additional psychology programs: the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), the Graduate Diploma in Psychology and the Master of Professional Psychology. These programs are subject to accreditation with the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council #.

All our psychology academics have a PhD or clinical psychology doctorate and our clinical psychology academics are practising clinical psychologists who are endorsed by the Psychology Board of Australia. The Discipline of Psychology offers training in clinical skills in our state-of-the-art Psychology Clinic and the discipline has a strong focus on research which informs our teaching. Our academics are able to gain considerable funds in research grants, while also supervising Honours and PhD students across a range of research areas.

We welcome you to the Discipline of Psychology — as a student, academic or researcher. With the quality of our programs, facilities and staff, we look forward to working together to further enhance the learning outcomes for students at USC.

* Only APAC-accredited psychology programs allow graduates to practise as provisional or registered psychologists in Australia.
