Profile

Dr Francesco Ricatti is Cassamarca Senior Lecturer in History and Italian Studies. He conducts research in migration history, football history, and political history. Within these areas of research, he is particularly interested in emotional histories and histories of emotions. He mostly focuses on Italian and Australian contexts, but from a transnational and postcolonial perspective. He has recently co-edited various publications on the histories and geographies of emotions, including two special issues of the academic journals Modern Italy and Cultural Studies Review, and the book Politica ed emozioni nella storia d'Italia dal 1848 ad oggi. He is the author of Embodying migrants: Italians in postwar Australia.

Francesco is book reviews co-editor of the journal Modern Italy (Cambridge University Press).

Francesco is a member of the Arts Research in Creative Humanities research cluster and the Indigenous Studies research theme at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
