- Introduction to Accounting
Michelle Joubert spent the last decade as a former student gaining industry knowledge and experience as a tax consultant in the Corporate Taxation Department (Energy and Mining Division) of PricewaterhouseCoopers, a tax accountant in a large Sunshine Coast CA practice, a business manager for a Sunshine Coast IT firm, a contracts management coordinator on Anglo American’s Moranbah North coal operation and a tutor / lecturer / course coordinator across a broad range of accounting courses in USC’s School of Business. Michelle is currently engaged in further postgraduate studies (focused on the principles of teaching in a tertiary environment) and on completion, will be enrolling in a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) followed by a PhD.
Teaching university students, and in particular first generation and international university students, is unequivocally where her professional passion and interest lie. Michelle believes the rich combination of academic and commercial experiences she has gained in varied contexts enable her to bring a tangible, real life component to the classroom. Michelle also maintains that her ability to simplify theory and approach complex material systematically while providing the reasons for engaging with such material, motivates students to stay on task and embrace material that can at times be extremely challenging. Observing students conquer their study apprehension and celebrating their milestones are the greatest professional rewards she could ever imagine experiencing.
