In recent years, partnerships between the University and our regional industry have developed a wide range of research opportunities within our Faculty and the University.
Some of these partnerships include:
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Queensland
With research stations at Bribie Island, Gympie and Nambour, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Queensland (DAFF Qld) has had a long and significant history of research interest on the Sunshine Coast.
As part of this, the Faculty has developed a close working relationship with DAFF Qld with a wide range of research projects been jointly conducted by the University and DAFF Qld, including Australian Research Council Linkage projects and joint HdR projects.
This collaboration has created several joint appointments.
The Faculty has developed strong research linkages with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council and SunROC.
These connections have resulted in shared planning for collection and analysis of data, and the development of grant proposals related to aspects of regional development.
Australia Zoo and UnderWater World
Australia Zoo and UnderWater World have been working with the Faculty, particularly in relation to educational programs and research.
World Heritage-listed site, Fraser Island, has formed a significant partnership with the Faculty to work on research and the protection of the environment through a range of educational and research activities, in particular, the University’s partnership with the proprietors of the Kingfisher Bay eco-tourism resort.
This connection with the Fraser Island Research and Learning Centre has established further relationships with international partner universities, including the University of Wyoming and University of San Francisco, Quito.
