Mr Benjamin Mentiplay’s specialist areas of knowledge include assessment of physical function (e.g. gait, strength, balance) in various clinical populations (e.g. neurological, paediatric, and orthopaedic patients). Ben has an extensive history of working with various hospitals and research institutes both in Australia and overseas that has led to many ongoing collaborations with clinicians and researchers. His main research focus is to provide translation of research into clinical practice via the use of low-cost and accessible equipment for assessment of function to identify key outcomes that are targeted within various clinical patients.
Ben graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (First Class Honours) from the Australian Catholic University in Melbourne in 2012. He was awarded the University Medal for his thesis. He has recently submitted his PhD in 2016 at the Australian Catholic University. His PhD focused on the interactions between muscle strength, power and gait following stroke. This included spending six months at Singapore General Hospital on an Endeavour Research Fellowship.
