University Games


University sport events provide a great opportunity to represent your university and meet people from all over Australia. USC Sport sends sporting teams to University Games events each year in a number of sports. Teams representing the University compete as the USC Spartans. To be eligible you must be an enrolled student.

To get involved, go to the University Games section on Blackboard to contact the Sport Specific Manager for your sport.

University Games Events

Northern University Games

The 2017 Northern University Games will be held from 2—6 July in Rockhampton. Each year the event attracts more than 1,000 competitors and students from universities and TAFE campuses across Queensland and Northern NSW, to compete in a wide range of sports:

How to sign up and register

  • Confirm your selection in a team with the student sport manager and receive the team name and code for registering with Australian University Sport.
  • Register and pay the uniform and accommodation fees online by the due dates. (Check with your Sport Specific Manager for uniform and accommodation payment requirements. Due dates as below)

*Balance for uniform will vary for golf ($48), netball women ($71.10), hockey ($70.60). If students have previously purchased a USC Team representative polo, then balance for uniform will be reduced by $42.90. i.e. $25 for most sports.

** Balance for accommodation will be dependent on SSAF subsidy and total number of students attending NUG, however cost will be no more than $170.

Australian University Games

The 2017 Australian University Games will be held on the Gold Coast, QLD from 24-29 September 2017.

Join students from over 40 universities across Australia to compete in a wide range of sports. The sports to be included in the 2017 Australian University Games are listed below.

*require teams to qualify via their regional event (unless auto qualification has been achieved via AUG 2016 results)

Australian University Championships

Australian University Sport has a number of exciting Championships on offer each year. These stand alone events give students the opportunity to compete at a national level in a number of different sports that are not contested at the Australian University Games.


The 2017 Australian University Championship for Orienteering will be held in ACT from 25 March.


The 2017 Australian University Championship for Surfing will be held on the Gold Coast, QLD from 25-27 Sept.

Snow sports

The 2017 Australian University Championship for Snow Sports will be in Thredbo, NSW from 27-31 August.


Represent USC in Triathlon for the 2017 Australian University Championships. Events are scheduled across a number of dates and locations throughout the year.

Distance Running

Represent USC in Distance Running for the 2017 Australian University Championships. Marathon, half marathon and 10km events are scheduled across a number of dates and locations throughout the year.


The 2017 Australian University Championship for Rowing will be held in conjunction with the Australian University Games on the Gold Coast, QLD from 24–29 September.

World University Games and Championships

Each year Australian University Sport (AUS) selects teams to represent Australia in the World University Championship or World Universiade events.

The Universiades are multisport events with many similarities to the Olympic Games and are held in the odd numbered years. The World University Championships are single sport events held in the even numbered years.

National Indigenous Games

The National Indigenous Games will be held in Geelong, VIC from 25-29 June and host hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tertiary students from universities all around Australia. Students compete in four core sports including touch football, netball, basketball and volleyball plus a traditional indigenous game every year.

University Games Code of Conduct

The University of the Sunshine Coast Code of Conduct (PDF 18KB) is applicable to all USC Sport events. By agreeing to participate in any USC Sport event, students are acknowledging that they are representing University of the Sunshine Coast. USC Sport is proud of its image and reputation and will not tolerate the misbehaviour of individuals representing USC Sport and University of the Sunshine Coast.
