Located at the Sippy Downs campus, the USC Sport Clinic enables athletes to access the knowledge, expertise, and support of sport and exercise scientists. Specifically, this specialised clinic provides strength and conditioning services for elite, semi-elite, amateur, and developing athletes from various sporting disciplines.

Services

Athlete performance testing / profiling

Athlete performance testing involves an athlete undertaking a battery of tests designed to measure their power, strength, endurance, agility, balance and flexibility. The results from these tests create what is termed an ‘athlete profile’, which is then used by coaches to determine what an athlete’s strengths and weaknesses are. Information from these tests assists strength and conditioning staff in exercise program development, and coaching staff in player recruitment and playing position delegation (team sports).

Performance testing cost: Individuals A$60 per person, Teams A$40 per person (max 10 players)

Injury prevention testing

Injury prevention testing involves an athlete undertaking comprehensive testing designed to assess their lower-body flexibility, balance, core control, and stability. The results from these tests identify which athletes are at increased risk of sustaining an injury, and which athletes have not sufficiently recovered from a previous injury. Ultimately, these results provide a basis for an injury prevention exercise program to be implemented (included in package), and assist coaching staff in determining the suitability of an athlete returning to game play.

Injury prevention testing cost: Individuals A$60 per person, Teams A$40 per person (max 10 players)

Athlete programming and periodisation

Athlete programming and periodisation is a service designed to cater for athletes that do not require one-on-one training. This services includes injury prevention testing and 6-months of periodised strength & conditioning programming. Whilst athletes undertaking this service train self-directed, they still get constant ongoing support from the USC Sport Clinic, and can regularly meet with their strength and conditioning coach to discuss their programming.

Athlete programming and periodisation cost: Individuals A$120 per person, Teams A$100 per person (max 10 players)

Strength and conditioning

Strength and conditioning describes the process of strengthening an athlete’s body to improve specific aspects of their sport and reduce the likelihood of injury, whilst conditioning prepares their body to cope with the specific movements, agility, endurance, and speed associated with their sport.

Strength and conditioning sessions offered by the USC Sport Clinic include assessment of balance, strength, flexibility, and other sport specific attributes as requiredas well as a 3 month membership at USC Gym (including 12 one-on-one sessions with our strength and conditioning coach). Individualised strength and conditioning exercise programs are then prescribed to address any issues identified, with the aim of improving athletic performance and reducing the likelihood of injury.

Strength and conditioning cost: Individuals A$330 per person, Teams A$220 per person (max 10 players)

Kris' sport science knowledge, combined with a history of elite sport competition (cricket), allows him greater insight into the demands and needs of athletes.
