A University of the Sunshine Coast graduate who is a self-confessed sports fanatic has kicked off his marketing career at a Brisbane-based fitness club.
Patrick Colagrossi, 22, of Bray Park, graduated from USC this month with a Bachelor of Business (Applied Marketing) and recently accepted a sales and marketing position with Genesis Fitness Club at Windsor.
The former Grace Lutheran College student said he was excited about his work.
“At Genesis Fitness Club I am in charge of producing monthly newsletters and contacting local businesses to advertise in the newsletters,” he said. “I also contribute to the club’s social media efforts.”
Patrick said he chose to study at USC because of the region’s coastal lifestyle and the personal atmosphere offered by a smaller institution.
“The lecturers and tutors at USC always had time to help me if I needed it and their doors were always open,” he said.
“My studies helped me to understand that all presentations and documents that you submit to clients must be very professional, well laid out, and be of interest to your target market.
“I am putting this into practice now at Genesis Fitness Club by ensuring that everything I put into the newsletters is of interest to the company’s target markets and different client bases.”
Patrick said he planned to continue on a career path which would allow him to continue combining his interests in sport, fitness and business.
He was among 1,100 students to graduate from USC during two ceremonies held on campus on Wednesday 4 April.
