University of the Sunshine Coast graduate Rebecca Rinehart of Gympie has launched her career in human resource management with a major engineering consultancy firm in Brisbane.
Rebecca, 22, recently started working for GHD Pty Ltd after completing a combined Arts and Business degree, majoring in Psychology and Human Resource Management.
The high-achieving student – who gained a $12,000 Chancellor’s Scholarship when she started at USC in 2008 – was among 1,100 students to graduate at two USC Graduation ceremonies on Wednesday 4 April.
Rebecca said her position as a People Coordinator with GHD Pty Ltd involved a range of human resource administration tasks.
“My interest in human resources developed because I do like being around people and working with a variety of different types of people,” she said.
“In the future, I hope to develop my knowledge and skills further within this field, eventually working toward becoming a HR advisor.
Rebecca, who attended Saint Patrick’s College in Gympie, said she chose to study at USC because of its excellent reputation, its close proximity to Gympie, and the career possibilities offered by the degree.
“I had heard great things about the University and my degree gave me skills which prepared me for the workforce,” she said.
“I knew I wanted to study human resources and the combination of human resources with psychology appealed to me.
“The University has a good range of lecturers and tutors and a very friendly and supportive vibe. I made great friends.”
