Fleet-footed University of the Sunshine Coast students and staff will line up tomorrow night (Monday 6 August) for an Olympics-inspired 100m sprint to determine who is the fastest man and woman on campus.

Some high-calibre athletes are likely to feature as USC Sport hosts what is set to be a friendly but fiercely-fought race at the University’s athletics track at 6pm.

USC Sport Manager Nathan Gordon said the inaugural race had created plenty of interest, with bragging rights and prizes up for grabs.

“There’s quite a bit of excitement on campus about the Olympics at the moment, so we thought this event was a good way to harness that,” he said.

Mr Gordon said USC Sport was also holding an Olympic challenge this week for staff and students, encouraging them to try their hand at some new sports in a bid to win memberships to USC’s gym or pool.

The sports include athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, gymnastics, rowing, swimming, tennis, volleyball and weight lifting.
