Two successful Sunshine Coast business people have been called on to inspire hundreds of high school students at a special Business Enterprise Day at the University of the Sunshine Coast tomorrow (Wednesday 2 May).
Coastline BMW principal dealer Tristan Kurz, who graduated from USC with an International Business degree in 2004, and internationally renowned cookbook author Annette Sym are the keynote speakers at this year’s event.
Mr Kurz will address the 315 Year 10 students from 10 local high schools from 9.40-10.10am and Ms Sym will speak from 1.20-1.50pm.
Students will also participate in workshops hosted by 31 local business people.
USC’s Business Development Assistant Margie Hutchence said the event was held annually to introduce students to businesses and business people with the aim of encouraging them to continue studying business at school.
“Participating in the Business Enterprise Day gives students a real-world perspective on their school subjects which usually motivates them to study business at a senior level,” she said.
“Students also leave with a good grasp of the types of businesses operated by business people on the Sunshine Coast and the diverse range of business careers available to them.”
The Business Enterprise Day is a collaborative event between USC’s Faculty of Arts and Business and the Business Educator’s Association of Queensland.
