Three of the most popular degree programs provided by the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) are now on offer in Brisbane at Southbank Institute of Technology (SBIT).
USC and SBIT today announced an agreement that will see University academics teaching on site at SBIT from Semester 1, 2013.
These programs will be open to all students, including SBIT graduates who will now be able to further their studies to a degree level without leaving the Southbank campus.
USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said SBIT’s academic reputation and the quality of its campus facilities made the partnership very attractive to the University.
“These study areas are popular at both institutions and we are able to give competitive credit for SBIT studies,” Professor Hill said.
“USC’s reputation for quality teaching and high student satisfaction is a good fit for a vocational and training institution like SBIT that places such importance on student engagement and an innovative learning environment.”
Professor Hill said the arrangement could be extended to other degrees in the future.
SBIT Chief Executive Dr Pim Borren said he was thrilled about this new opportunity.
“The longer-term benefits of the partnership will ensure greater educational and academic outcomes, provide richer study options for students and maximise the advantages the SBIT campus can offer,” he said.
“We’re delighted to welcome USC onto campus and be involved with a university that embodies the same high quality teaching standards as SBIT. This is an excellent opportunity for our students wanting to seamlessly continue their studies to bachelor level, in familiar surroundings.”
Meanwhile, entry to more than 40 undergraduate degrees continues to be available at USC’s modern Sippy Downs campus on the Sunshine Coast, with competitive credit for TAFE studies.
