Seven schools, 940 students and 390 kilometres: a new University of the Sunshine Coast travelling roadshow is gearing up for its regional journey.
Called Focus Your Future, the inaugural information event will travel between Gayndah and Kilcoy from Wednesday 20 March to Friday 22 March.
USC External Relations Manager Kylie Russell said South Burnett schools had shown an overwhelming response to the USC collaborative initiative.
“Working with TAFE and Defence Force Recruiting, we want to raise aspirations in the South Burnett region and encourage Year 11 and 12 students to think about the variety of career pathways after high school,” Ms Russell said.
“It’s the first time these regional students will have the opportunity to access all these pathways at the one time in their schools.”
Senior students will attend the USC roadshow at Burnett State College, Gayndah, and Murgon State High School (20 March); at Kingaroy State High School, Saint Mary’s Catholic College, Kingaroy, and Nanango State High School (21 March); and at Toogoolawah State High School and Kilcoy State High School (22 March).
The event will involve presentations by each organisation and opportunities for students to speak one-on-one with staff about careers, financial support and accommodation options. USC also will outline its new Drama and Science majors and upcoming program in Law.
