The results are sure to be delicious but the question on the lips of University of the Sunshine Coast staff is: who will win the third annual Men’s Baking Competition on Thursday 23 May?
Expectations are high after last year’s winner, Italian language studies course coordinator Emanuele Venditti delighted the judges with his vegan chocolate cake.
Organiser Marg Robley said the competition, inspired by the outstanding male chefs on reality TV cooking shows, was a highlight of USC’s annual Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event for the Cancer Council.
Last year’s event was popular with staff and raised $1,466 for cancer research.
Ms Robley, of USC’s IT Services, said this year’s event would be held at 10am outside the Brasserie.
Staff are encouraged to donate raffle prizes or morning tea items, or make donations on the day.
“Donations of prizes are already coming in as people recycle their unwanted Christmas and birthday presents and other bric-a-brac,” she said.
“I’ve had expressions of interest in the Men’s Baking Competition and I would like to see more. There’s a highly coveted trophy – the glorified pizza tray.”
