High-profile local, state and international decision-makers will speak at the annual Sunshine Coast Futures Conference tomorrow, Friday 8 November.
The conference, based on the theme ‘The Sunshine Coast and its place in South-East Queensland’, is being staged jointly by the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Council at USC’s Innovation Centre auditorium from 7.45am to 4pm.
Speakers will include: University of Quebec academic Professor Mario Polèse who wrote The Wealth and Poverty of Regions; Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk; former Brisbane Lord Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson; Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson; former Queensland Trade Commissioner Andrew Craig; Michael Kerry who wrote the Regional and Infrastructure Plan and Program for South-East Queensland; and USC Pro Vice-Chancellor for Engagement Professor Mike Hefferan.
They will focus on the opportunities and challenges created by the region’s close proximity to Brisbane and its location in South-East Queensland.
