University of the Sunshine Coast Creative Writing academic and award-winning author Dr Paul Williams will launch his new book, Cokcraco, at the USC Gallery at 1pm tomorrow (Wednesday 2 October).
Cokcraco, published by Lacuna Publishing, is the first Australian novel for the former South African academic who has more than 22 published works to his name.
It is a mystery which follows, through a collection of satirical letters, the adventures of an Australian academic who travels to South Africa.
“The main character is searching for his personal idol who is obsessed with cockroaches. Hence the title,” Dr Williams said.
“This is the type of novel that will appeal to both those who work in a university setting as well as those who like a mystery and are open to a book written from an unusual perspective.”
Cokcraco received acclaim at the Brisbane Writers Festival earlier this year and was ranked as one of the festival’s top 10 best sellers.
Dr Williams has received numerous awards for his work, including South Africa’s Book of the Year for his novel, Soldier Blue, in 2008.
Media and the public are welcome to attend the book launch at the USC Gallery on Wednesday 2 October at 1pm.
Cokcraco is available at the USC Co-Op book shop. For more information contact Paul Williams on 54711420 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
