Lauren Thompson of Highfields, north of Toowoomba has secured a job at a leading Australian health and safety provider after completing a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Lauren, 26, graduated from USC on Thursday 3 October and is now working as a project manager at Health by Design in Brisbane.
The former St Joseph’s College student said she was enjoying using the nutrition and health promotion skills and knowledge she gained during her degree.
“I am responsible for promoting health, wellness and injury prevention, and coaching people to achieve their personal health goals and a healthier lifestyle,” she said.
“It’s a very rewarding position and I feel USC’s clinical placement program helped give me the confidence to tackle such a role, preparing me for an exciting career ahead.”
Lauren said she was drawn to USC because it offered a relaxed, personal and welcoming learning environment.
“I previously completed a year of study at a city university and found it overwhelming and ultimately felt lost in the crowd,” she said.
“After taking some time out, I readjusted my priorities, found my passion for nutrition and dietetics, and decided USC would be the ideal place for me to complete my degree.
“Student Services and the level of support from lecturers and tutors have been incredible. All are welcoming, very approachable and genuinely want students to succeed in their courses.”
