Tanya Trost of Ipswich is working at BreastScreen Queensland after completing a Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Tanya, 42, who graduated from USC on Thursday 3 October, is working as a health promotion officer at the organisation’s Ipswich branch.
She said she has always had a passion for health promotion and was delighted to complete a qualification built upon her previous experience.
“I am responsible for developing evidence-based health promotion strategies and liaising with general practitioners and locals to help inform and educate the community on health-related issues,” she said.
“I have always worked within the health promotion sector initially in oral health, and welcomed the opportunity to increase my knowledge in the area.
“It is a rewarding industry to work in as you have the opportunity to make a difference when it comes to ensuring the equitable distribution of services and achieving positive change in the community.”
Tanya said having the flexibility to study online at USC provided her with a good work and life balance.
“Being able to study online, at a pace I was comfortable with, gave me the freedom to fulfil commitments to my work as well as my family all while studying to enhance my career,” she said.
“The accessibility of tutors and the availability of online streaming and podcasts made my study experience at USC very convenient and enjoyable.”
