The University of the Sunshine Coast will stage four graduation ceremonies over two days on 10-11 April, with crowds totalling 4,100 people expected to attend.
More than 800 graduands will gown up for the formal occasions, two of which will be held on Thursday 10 April for the Faculty of Arts and Business and the other two on Friday 11 April for the Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering.
All four ceremonies in USC’s Sports Stadium will feature academic processions, the presentation of medals for outstanding academics and students, and the presentation of honorary awards.
USC Chancellor John Dobson OAM will confer degrees and certificates on more than 1,200 graduands in total.
Graduation addresses will be delivered by honorary award recipients at each ceremony. They are:
- Cambodia’s Minister for Tourism, His Excellency Dr Thong Khon, at the 11am ceremony on Thursday 10 April;
- Former town planner Ken Hicks at 5pm ceremony on Thursday 10 April;
- Careflight co-founder and author Ken Wishaw at 11am ceremony on Friday 11 April; and
- Macadamia grower and researcher Ian McConachie at 5pm ceremony on Friday 11 April.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said graduation was the pinnacle of academic recognition for USC’s graduates and each ceremony would feature some very special moments.
