People in the Gympie region who want to sample home-grown university life before applying to study are encouraged to attend the USC Gympie Mid-year Entry Info Evening on Wednesday 30 April.
The event, from 5.15pm to 7.15pm, will enable people to try out the facilities at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gympie on Cartwright Road and meet the lecturers and tutors who deliver the courses on offer.
USC Communications Officer Macaela French said she expected the evening to attract mature-age people seeking a career change or development as well as recent school-leavers.
“Mid-year enrolment is another opportunity for people to consider coming to USC Gympie to pursue their dreams,” she said.
For the first time, the 2014 event will allow prospective students to experience short, interactive lectures and classes in Business, Nursing and Education, as well as tertiary study skills and alternative pathways to university.
“Those who attend will get the chance to see demonstrations and use equipment in the Nursing lab and enjoy course-inspired activities in the lecture theatre and tutorial rooms,” Ms French said.
“They can also talk one-on-one about their circumstances with staff, find out about support services for USC students and make appointments to return for help to complete their QTAC applications.”
To register attendance, go to the website or call 5456 5000.
