University of the Sunshine Coast Chancellor John Dobson OAM is preparing to lead his final tour of the Middle East.
The tour group, leaving Australia on 1 May 2014, will visit Greece, Turkey, Israel, Palestine and Jordan over 42 days. Bookings for the tour are still open to the general public.
Mr Dobson said the history and archaeology of the Middle East was exciting, and visiting the region provided great insights into how ancient times have influenced modern society.
“One of the most powerful life-changing experiences I have had in my life was to study in the Middle East in 1991,” he said. “It not only changed my life, but changed a lot of ways in which I thought and approached life itself.
“To experience the source of our civilisation from ancient times is an awesome experience, and something that can never be fully understood without actually visiting the Middle East.”
He said those unable to do the entire 42-day tour could book segments of it.
