The touring Nikon-Walkley Press Photography Exhibition has opened at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery.

This stunning collection of news images features the work of photographers who were finalists and winners at the 2013 Walkley Awards, including a series of images by former Sunshine Coast Daily photographer Chris McGrath.

The exhibition was opened last night (27 March) by Walkley Foundation CEO and Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance Federal Secretary Christopher Warren and will remain on display until Saturday 3 May.

A crowd of about 100 people attended the opening event and enjoyed a presentation by award-winning photojournalist Brian Cassey of Cairns.

Mr Cassey outlined the news stories behind his photographs, before describing the exhibition as the best Nikon-Walkley Press Photography Exhibition that had been assembled.

USC Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich said the exhibition was being shown in collaboration with the Walkley Foundation for Journalism and the Sunshine Coast Daily.

The gallery is located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open free to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and closed Sundays and public holidays.
