A combined degree in Business and Commerce from the University of the Sunshine Coast, along with relevant work experience, has added up to create an excellent career opportunity for Paul Hobbs of Gympie.
Paul, 21, who graduated from USC earlier this month with a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) has gained employment with an accountancy firm in Maroochydore.
The former student of James Nash State High School said it was the ideal start to his career.
“My main duties involve preparing tax returns for a range of entities, preparing Business Activity Statements, research and further learning,” Paul said.
“I will be introduced to a number of services the business provides as I continue my training.”
Paul majored in Accounting and Financial Planning at USC and minored in Business Law and Human Resources Management.
“My studies helped prepare me very broadly for working as an accountant,” he said.
“When I began working part-time towards the end of my degree, I found that working in the field I was studying greatly assisted my university studies.”
Paul chose to study at USC because it was close to Gympie and it allowed him to stay near his family.
“I liked how modern USC is compared to some other universities in both building structure and technology,” he said. “It’s also a great learning environment.”
