A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast has given Siobhan Walker of Gympie an excellent start to her career as a rehabilitation consultant.
The former Saint Patrick's College student, who graduated from USC on 11 April, has secured a role as Junior Rehabilitation Consultant with The Altius Group in Sydney.
“Altius provides rehabilitation services to support and guide clients through the challenges posed by injury and illness at work and in life,” Siobhan said.
“There is a strong focus on workplace rehabilitation that is responsive to all parties.”
Siobhan said her Occupational Therapy degree gave her the ability to work in a wide range of settings with various clients and the opportunity to specialise in specific areas.
She chose USC because it offered high-quality courses without her having to move to a large city to study.
“I enjoyed the fact that USC valued the importance of having a balanced study load of both theoretical and practical placement to gain hands-on experience within various Occupational Therapy settings,” she said.
“The bonus of having smaller-sized classes made it easy to interact with peers and lecturers.”
Siobhan said her role with The Altius Group was an excellent opportunity to build a solid foundation to her career as a rehabilitation consultant.
