University of the Sunshine Coast graduate Lili Davis of Hervey Bay has started an exciting career in tourism after gaining employment with a leading international hotel group.
Lili, 25, who graduated on 10 April with a Bachelor of Business (Tourism, Leisure and Event Management), has secured a role as guest service officer with the Novotel Brisbane.
Lili said she was delighted to be working with Novotel which, as part of Accor Group, could also offer a range of opportunities to advance her tourism career over the longer term.
“The tourism knowledge I gained from my USC studies was very useful in finding employment with the Novotel Brisbane,’’ she said.
“It’s great to be working in a role that allows me to apply what I learnt at university and which involves being part of a team delivering first-class customer service in the tourism industry.”
As a guest service officer, Lili can be called upon to assist guests in all aspects of their stay, from their arrival to departure, including offering advice and recommendations to enhance their time at the hotel and in the city.
Lili said she chose to study at USC because it offered the specific course she wanted to help her achieve her career goals and because it was a good lifestyle choice.
“I liked that USC feels like a part of the Sunshine Coast’s sun, sand and surf environment,” she said.
“There are not too many people there, like there can be in the big city universities. And you can always get great help and study support from staff when you need it.”
