Competing in 50m, 100m and 400m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly (Classification: S13) at the Rio Paralympics
USC connection: USC Spartans swimmer, studying Bachelor of Journalism
Buderim swimmer Braedan Jason is set to make waves at his Paralympic debut in Rio.
The 18-year-old’s blistering performance at April’s National Championships saw him qualify in five events, including the hotly contested 400m Freestyle.
Braedan began training with Jan Cameron and the USC Spartans in 2014.
He is in his first year of a Journalism degree at USC and often fits in lectures or studying in between swimming and strength and conditioning training.
As well as his exploits in the pool, Braedan is a successful ironman competitor for Alexandra Headland Surf Club, recording a ninth place finish at the 2015 National Championships.
Braedan was born with cone dystrophy, a condition which affects his visual acuity.
He is looking forward to the electric atmosphere at the Rio Paralympics and hopes to be in the medal mix for the 100m and 400m Freestyle.
