Competing in the 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay at the Rio Olympics
USC connection: USC Spartans swimmer
Renowned freestyler Leah Neale from Ipswich will make her Olympic debut in the 4 x 200 Freestyle Relay in Rio.
A fourth-place finish in the 200m freestyle at the National Swimming Championships in April earned Leah her spot for Rio, although it was a nervous wait before she received a text message from officials confirming her selection in the relay team.
Although this year will be her first Olympics, Leah has extensive experience on the international swimming scene, having first represented Australia in 2014. She was the first 15-year-old in the history of Australia to achieve a time of less than two minutes for the 200m Freestyle.
Leah, who is also a university student, moved to the Sunshine Coast to train under Chris Mooney in the USC Spartans early last year.
