Competing in 100m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke and 400m freestyle (Classification: S10) at the Rio Paralympics
USC connection: USC Spartans swimmer
Logan Powell grew up on a farm near Mackay, but moved to the Sunshine Coast with his family in 2013 so he could train in the USC Spartans’ high performance program.
He began swimming at a young age after losing his lower right leg in a lawnmower when he was 18 months old.
Now an elite swimmer, the Year 12 student has a hectic schedule, training for two hours every morning, attending school throughout the day and returning to the pool in the afternoon.
Logan’s career highlight was making the Paralympic team at the National Championships in Adelaide this year, which he said he couldn’t have achieved without the ongoing support of his family.
The youngest member of the Spartans’ squad, Logan will be aiming for personal best performances in his three events in Rio.
