“I got to know my lecturers and that was important to me in helping me to establish my career. At other universities, the lecture sizes are massive and you aren’t able to get the same treatment as you do at USC.
University gave me all the theory and I learnt how to apply that on the job. USC teaches you problem solving skills and theory. The degree was critical.
I started work at the Sunshine Coast office of GHD. The transition was easier because I had been working there casually in my final year and I knew what to expect.
I had the opportunity to work in Sydney for eight months and I’ve had the opportunity to move around a bit with GHD.
In my current job, I work in water systems, planning for water and sewerage infrastructure. I do hydraulic modelling — we look at how existing infrastructure is going to cope with projected growth.
I find technical work I do challenging. It’s satisfying to be challenged technically and I work with a really great bunch of people and that really helps.”
