I perform pre-employment medicals, primarily for miners and the police force.
This involves tests for drugs and alcohol, hearing, spirometry (lung capacity) and eye and colour blindness.
How I got the job
I was attracted to this job as it is a full-time role in a great location, close to home with fantastic working hours. I was the successful applicant out of 150 responses.
What I enjoy most
I enjoy engaging with patients and I like helping people obtain jobs. I’m always busy.
Like most high school students, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I finished school. I loved science, but there were so many avenues.
I knew I wanted to distinguish myself by having a degree. I wanted to be successful, and I needed to put in the hard work to get there.
I chose Biomedical science as it was a bit more specific than a general science degree, but at the same time broad enough to cover many important aspects of science.
If you are thinking of continuing on into medicine, I would highly recommend this undergraduate degree.
Location. USC has no traffic, modern facilities, a fantastic atmosphere and a lovely mix of people. The lecturers and tutors were always going out of their way to help.
