Building meaningful and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is fundamental to the University of the Sunshine Coast realising its aspirations and expressing its values of scholarship, discovery, social justice, engagement, sustainability and integrity, as detailed in its Strategic Plan 2016-2020. In particular, USC is committed to working with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations in the locations where it operates to improve educational and employment outcomes, with the ultimate aim of addressing social and educational inequality.

Focus area: The Reconciliation Action plan will provide the overarching framework to assist the University in embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander–specific initiatives and actions within day-to-day practice across the University.

  1. Celebrate National Reconciliation Week (NRW) to strengthen and maintain relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and other staff.

  1. Establish governance structures and processes that ensure monitoring and reporting on RAP matters at the highest level of the University.
