You’ll get practical experience through our optional Business Internship course. The internship consists of 96 hours and can be organised for you by our staff. Apart from gaining valuable experience, you’ll build industry contacts and possibly even impress a potential employer.

I highly recommend the Study Overseas program for at least one semester while you are studying.
I do a lot of compliance work for ASX listed companies including tax effect accounting, preparing tax returns and also provide tax advice.
I act as an in-house tax accountant for one of our multinational ASX listed clients and go to their premises once a week to work and taking on a commercial role.
How I got the job
I was well prepared for the interview. I did research on the company and thought about the responses I would provide when they asked me the questions. I also had experience.
The great quality teaching and the university staff helped me gain part-time work in an accounting firm while I studied and this helped me stand out. I also showed 110% enthusiasm.
What I enjoy most
I really enjoy the people and social events and I like meeting clients. I also like having exposure to a variety of tax areas and quality training.
I really enjoyed accounting and maths at school and I wanted to make a career out of something I enjoyed doing. University was the best way to get me there.
USC was close to where I lived, it offered the course I wanted and had lecturers that had great experience.
At USC I enjoyed making new friends, friendly lecturers, and the Study Overseas program.

I assist in the delivery off a suite of services designed to assist organisations enhance the return from their IT investments and more effectively manage their IT risks.
My day to day activities vary greatly and range from conducting client meetings, data analysis, process mapping, investigating company IT risk and assisting in producing deliverables for clients.
I am currently part of a team delivering program assurance for a multi-million dollar international IT program of work.
It is rewarding coming in at different points of the program of work to understand their challenges and their progress and to provide valuable advice that can really help the program along.
How I got the job
KPMG has a comprehensive recruitment process. I initially applied through their website which comprised of a written application and completion of some online testing.
I was then invited to attend an assessment centre which included a one-on-one interview, testing and a group activity.
Overall, it may seem like a daunting process, however, it lead to a positive end result. USC gave me lots of opportunities that helped me stand out when applying for this graduate position.
What I enjoy most
I get the chance to do something different every day. I have always enjoyed a challenge and KPMG enables me to set my goal post further. In my position I get opportunities to work in different roles for many organisations.
The challenge is rapidly learning the unique circumstances of an organisation, but it is incredibly rewarding when we deliver insight that is really useful for our clients.
I was attracted to this role as it offers the chance to work overseas, on a wide range of clients and doing a wide variety of things.
I chose university study because of the opportunities it could offer me. I wanted to travel the world and work in places like London and New York. A degree is one of the best ways to do that.
I felt that a technology degree from USC gave me the right balance of technical and business skills.
It was also a smaller university and it felt more personal. I wasn't ready to give up the Sunshine Coast yet.
I liked the lifestyle, opportunities and convenience being close to home that USC offered.
