Thinking of starting or returning to uni?

Come along to Meet USC for a great way to find out about your study options.

If you are thinking about going to university but are not sure it is for you, then you should consider bridging and preparatory courses.

These courses provide a number of benefits:

  • Develop your academic skills in preparation for enrolling in undergraduate degree programs.
  • Build confidence in your ability to undertake tertiary study and prepare for success.
  • Ease the transition into university study for the first time, especially if you have had a break from formal study and need to refresh your study skills and update your knowledge.

There is no cost for students who are eligible for Commonwealth support – Australian citizens, Permanent Residents and Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders.

Courses on offer

USC offers three different courses that are designed to help you succeed at your studies:

You should consider enrolling in the Tertiary Preparation Pathway if you have significant doubts about your ability to succeed in university study, or cannot enter an undergraduate program with your existing qualifications. You can complete four TPP courses in one semester of full-time study. TPP is offered at USC's campus in Sippy Downs, as well as in Noosa, Gympie, Caboolture and North Lakes.

The Tertiary Enabling Program is an option if you are already enrolled in an undergraduate degree and want to brush up on your skills in a particular content area, such as chemistry, maths or biology. Enabling courses are taught before the start of semester (with ongoing weekly tutorials) on campus at Sippy Downs.

If you have not done formal study for years, or did not finish high school, the University Skills in Community Course can help. The course is held over five weeks and introduces you to what being a student is all about, teaching study skills such as writing, referencing and note-taking. The course is taught at locations in Maleny, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Noosa, Nambour and Gympie, and on campus at Sippy Downs.

To find out if you are eligible to study at university, refer to the admission requirements of the program you are interested in, or contact Student Central.
