The University of the Sunshine Coast has joined the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Pilot, a national program addressing gender equality for women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).
SAGE is run by the Australian Academy of Science in partnership with the Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE). The Pilot has been developed from the Athena SWAN Charter, an evaluation and accreditation framework from the UK that addresses the improvement of gender equity policies and practices in STEMM. The SAGE pilot has 40 participants and will enable the University to build on our ongoing work to promote gender equity and create an inclusive academic culture.
In mid-October representatives from the Athena SWAN Charter will be on campus, and students will be invited to a presentation on the SAGE pilot.
As a SAGE Pilot participant, the University has signed up to the 10 principles of the Athena SWAN Charter.
