Step 1: Respond to your offer

After receiving your email offer, you must respond via USC Central as soon as possible. If you do not respond before the start of the study period in which you were made an offer, your offer may lapse.

Click on one of the response options below for instructions:

Accept your offer
  1. Log in to USC Central using the username and password provided in your letter of offer. Follow the prompts to accept your offer.

    QTAC Applicants only 
    - you must also respond directly to QTAC by the date specified. To do so, login to QTAC's Application Services using the email address and password that you used to create your QTAC account. If you have missed the QTAC response date, it may be possible to reinstate your offer, contact Student Central.

  2. Complete compulsory To-Do items

    After you have accepted your offer you must complete all items in your compulsory To-Do Items list.
  • All students offered a Commonwealth Supported Place (refer to your email offer) must complete the Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF).

    Note: Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) Commonwealth Supported students are required to complete an eCAF, however do not incur tuition fees.

  • All Australian citizens and Permanent Humanitarian visa holders (excluding TPP students) must complete the Student Services and Amenities form (eSAF).

    If you choose to defer your fees to a HELP loan you must have a Tax File Number (TFN) to complete these forms. If you do not have a TFN, urgently complete an application at the Australian Tax Office (ATO). You must supply Student Central with a copy of your TFN Application Summary and the receipt Australia Post issued when you provided your proof of identity. You can still fill out the eCAF and eSAF before you receive your TFN, but you will be reminded to supply your TFN on your To Do List in USC Central.

Defer your offer

Undergraduate and TPP students are eligible to defer their place for up to two years.

  1. Log in to USC Central using the username and password provided in your letter of offer. Follow the prompts to defer your offer and provide your intended semester of commencement.
  2. QTAC Applicants must also respond directly to QTAC by the date specified. Login to QTAC's Application Services using the email address and password that you used to create your QTAC account.

USC will contact you to advise you on how to take up your deferred place in the future. Ensure your contact details are up to date in USC Central.

Decline your offer
  1. Decline your offer via USC Central using the username and password provided in your letter of offer. Follow the prompts to decline your offer before the study period commences.
  2. QTAC Applicants must also respond directly to QTAC by the date specified. Login to QTAC's Application Services using the email address and password that you used to create your QTAC account.
Change your response

If your circumstances change after you have responded to your offer and you wish to change your response you may do so by following the process that suits your situation below. Changes of response must be made before census date.

  • To defer your offer after initially accepting it, log in to USC Central > Select Program > click the Take a Break/Defer/Withdraw tab > select Defer. Refer to the Deferring after accepting your offer video in the USC Central Guide for a demonstration.

  • To accept your offer after initially declining or deferring - To take up your place in the same term as you have been initially offered, email information@usc.edu.au.

  • To decline your offer after initially accepting or deferring it, log in to USC Central > Select Program > click the Take a Break/Defer/Withdraw tab > select Withdraw.

QTAC Applicants: You must also advise QTAC that you wish to change the response to your offer.

Deferred students taking up their place at USC are not required to respond to their offer but should go directly to the To-Do Items under Accept your offer.

Change your password

Select one of the options below to change the password provided in your email offer as soon as you have completed your To Do items.

USC password reset via mobile

If you have registered your mobile phone in either USC Central (students) then you can change your password via the self-service USC password reset page. To use this service:

  • Go to the self-service USC password reset page.
  • Enter your username in the text box.
  • A security code will be sent to your registered mobile phone.
  • Enter the security code in the field.
  • Enter your new password.

The USC password reset page can also be accessed by clicking on the ‘Change your password’ link (located below the Login/Sign in button) on the home pages of Blackboard, USC Central and USC Staff.

Here are instructions on how you can update your mobile number in USC Central.

On a USC workstation

If you are on a USC managed computer (eg workstation, computer lab, library commons) you can change your password by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del after you logon.

  • Logon to the computer.
  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
  • Select 'Change a Password'.
  • Enter your old password and your new password in the text boxes, making sure you follow the password requirements as described below.

Password requirements

  • Your password is case-sensitive.
  • Your password MUST be between 8 and 16 characters in length.
  • Your password MUST have at least one UPPERCASE character.
  • Your password MUST have at least one LOWERCASE character.
  • Your password MUST have at least one number.
  • Your password MUST have at least one Special (Non-Alphanumeric) character eg ! @ # $ % ^ & *
  • Your password MUST be different from any used previously.
  • Your password MUST NOT contain spaces.
  • Your password MUST NOT contain part of your name or username.

Please allow up to 10 minutes for your password to synchronise to all University systems you have access to. This includes web services and campus computers. If you have trouble using a campus computer after changing your password, log off and log back on.
