Welcome to new students

Orientation to USC Fraser Coast is an important way to learn about the University, your campus and study requirements for the year. Attendance is highly recommended.

The event kicks off with an Official Welcome and Welcome to Country followed by an exciting schedule that will equip you with the information and knowledge to get your studies off to a great start. The day will provide essential information about your program as well as opportunities to navigate the campus, find your classes and meet new people.

If you have difficulties accessing any Orientation activities or information due to a disability, learning disorder, injury or illness, please contact our Disability Services team before the event so they can assist you.

Stop by between 12noon–1:30pm to go on a campus tour. Find out where your classes will be and what facilities are available to you.

Maker Space:

Available for Education students only. In this fun session, learn how new technology such as robots are enhancing learning and problem-solving skills in the classroom. Workshop focuses on integrating technologies such as coding, design, circuitry, electronics and robotics into the school curriculum.

Using the library, this session provides hands-on assistance to find your textbooks, discover information online, formulate a search, and much more.

Learn some simple strategies to enhance your learning, improve your skills and get the most out of your tertiary studies.

IT Fundamentals:

Get help connecting to the USC network, understanding computer labs, and accessing core IT systems and services used by students, including Blackboard – the learning environment and course management system at USC.

Designed for Undergraduate students. This hands-on session will teach you how to understand the options and opportunities available to you within your program structure and plan your progress through your degree. Student Advisers will show you where to find and how to read your program structure, how to use your structure to suit your needs and how to map out your course enrolments for future semesters.

These Academic Skills workshops are run before the start of the academic year, for students to refresh their study skills in anticipation of the year ahead. For Semester 2 2017, these will be run during the Orientation Week, from Monday 17 – Thursday 20 July.

To register for any of these workshops, log into Student Hub using your USC username and password and select Events and Workshops at Fraser Coast. Contact Student Central Fraser Coast in A Block if you need assistance.
