Welcome to new students

Orientation to USC SouthBank is an important way to way to learn about the University, your campus and study requirements for the year. Attendance is highly recommended.

Taking place on Monday July 17, the event kicks off with an Official Welcome and Welcome to Country followed by an exciting schedule that will equip you with the information and knowledge to get your studies off to a great start. The day will provide essential information about your program as well as opportunities to navigate the campus, find your classes and meet new people.

From Tuesday 18 - Thursday 20 July, be sure to attend an Academic and Study Skills Pre-Semester Workshop. Check the timetable below and plan your week to get the most out of Orientation.

It is compulsory for all new international students to register, present their passports and visa and attend the International Student Orientation.

Academic and Study Skills Pre-Semester Workshops

When: Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 July 2017 from 9am to 1pm.

A special workshop for students studying the Master of Health Promotion is offered Thursday 20 July 2017 from 9am to 1pm.

The Academic and Study Skills Pre-Semester Workshops help you to develop skills and strategies to meet the challenges of university study. Topics include:

  • Time management
  • Notetaking
  • Reading strategies
  • Referencing
  • Critical thinking

When you attend an Academic and Study Skills Pre-Semester Workshop, please bring:

  • Notebook and pen
  • Cardigan or jacket

Where to find us

USC SouthBank is located near Brisbane's city centre, cultural precinct, South Bank Parklands and the Brisbane River, approximately 70 minutes' drive south of the University’s Sunshine Coast campus. For directions refer to the USC SouthBank map.

While there is no dedicated parking space for USC students there are a number of paid parking options within walking distance to USC SouthBank. There are also a number of frequent public transport options available including train, bus and ferry services and a cycling track to access the campus.
