We're the Kids in America!
16 December 2015 - From traumatising fairytale characters to walking through Fenway Park, to throwing a snowball at my teacher, this overseas experience is one that has had it all. Before the 21st of October 2015 I had never been overseas, I had never seen snow, never seen a squirrel and I also never could have imagined what this adventure would give me. It started off with 30 hours of travelling before finally arriving in Fredonia at 12:30am on a Thursday morning. From day one it has been an amazing experience with a brand new adventure every second.
Advertising Students on Tour - Take us to Shanghai!
15 December 2015 - After a long couple of flights filled with movie-watching and excitement, we arrived in Shanghai with a little bit of a culture shock. Ultimately, we were there to gain insight into the Chinese consumer market and how advertising principles and practices are applied in a different market to our own. This will continue to inspire our own work and help us to develop innovative ideas for future advertising campaigns at university and throughout our careers. It was just a coincidence that Shanghai boasted some of the best knock-off markets in the world, so we just had to squeeze some shopping time into our schedules, of course.
Unchartered Land: Career World! By Yr 11 intern Jasmin Graves
3 December 2015 - I’m finishing Year 11 at Matthew Flinders Anglican College and work experience week was strategically placed 5 days before the Christmas holidays, how taunting. When the seniors are celebrating their new found ‘freedom’ at schoolies, my grade has been dispatched to various law firms, marketing agencies, primary schools and even a few construction sites to partake in hands on experience of ‘the real world’.
I've Finished!! Now What?
24 November 2015 - To all the students starting their own university experience, and to the ones still plotting away, my best advice for you is to enjoy the ride. Don’t be in a rush to finish. While your degree is the ultimate goal, it’s the friendships and precious experiences you gain along the way that become almost more important in shaping you for life beyond USC.
Work, Social Life and Study: It's a Balancing Act!
17 November 2015 - Studying here at USC has given me this opportunity: to rise, and shine, take centre stage and put my Creative Writing ambitions into action. Two years ago, I would have never believed the feats I've achieved. They are by no means 'high flying', but becoming a Student Ambassador, being published now twice in USC's Creative Writing Anthology and performing for this year's Art Gallery Twilight Markets are just some of the experiences I've had, and a semester abroad in Italy will surely be the highlight of my degree! No matter what stage you're in, age or background you are in, there is something at USC for everyone.
Nursing Student Jess Takes Flight
11 November 2015 - Having the opportunity to work alongside a team of health professionals I have much admiration for is an experience I will never forget. Recently I got to take on a placement experience with The Royal Flying Doctors Service where I got to observe and handle real life emergency situations. Studying a Bachelor of Nursing Science at the University of the Sunshine Coast has opened my eyes to a world of nursing that I have never experienced before.
Fraser Dreamin - Dunes for Days!
21 October 2015 - While some of you spent your holidays partying, working, or being the A grade uni student punching assignments out, I spent my holidays doing all three. How is this possible? Well over the break a handful of students in the new course ENS 330 (Fraser island field studies) explored this incredible island for 4 days from variety of different perspectives.
