To book, use the online Dilli Village accommodation booking form or telephone the Dilli Village on-site caretakers direct on +61 7 4127 9130. USC staff and students wishing to stay at Dilli Village for research/course-related activities should view the Dilli Village pages on MyUSC.

The Fraser Island Research and Learning Centre at Dilli Village has comfortable bunkhouses, self-contained cabins and an open grassed area for camping. The entire site is surrounded by a dingo-proof fence with three covered picnic areas with BBQs for use by guests. There is also a fresh water swimming hole just outside the grounds, complimented by a foot bridge for easy access to the beach.

Cabins

The cabins are perfect for families, groups or individuals looking for a comfortable place to stay while exploring the island.

There are six cabins, each of which has a double bed and single bunkbed in one bedroom, with a double bunkbed in the other bedroom, in total sleeping up to five people. Half cabins are also available but these are not available to book during peak times.

Cabins are self-contained and include a toilet and shower, as well as a small kitchenette with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, and crockery and cutlery provided.

Environmentally friendly soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided in the cabins and the amenities block.

Bed linen and bath towels are not provided as part of the accommodation costs in the cabins and bunkhouses, but sets containing sheets, pillowcases and a bath towel may be hired for A$7.50 per set.

  • 2 bedroom cabin: A$120 per night (maximum five persons)
  • Half cabin: A$75 per night (maximum three persons—not available for booking during peak times)
Bunkhouses

There are five bunkhouses with four rooms in each. Each room contains one double bed or two single beds. Total capacity is 40 people.

  • Per room: A$50 per night (maximum two persons)
Camping

Dilli Village's grounds are undulating and grassed which makes them ideal for camping and sites have been thoughtfully set out to accommodate a variety of guests.

Currently there are 15 family sites (9 powered, 6 unpowered), designed to fit larger tents/gazebos, campervans/trailers, caravans and multiple vehicles. Also there are 9 smaller sites (unpowered), designed to accommodate guests doing the Great Walk or only have a swag or 2-man tent.

All sites are allocated based on guest requirements and the availability of sites. Dilli Village is ideal for larger family groups and wherever possible, groups travelling together will be accommodated in one area. Bookings for such occasions are essential.

Dilli Village is one of the few places on Fraser Island that permits campfires, providing there is not a total fire ban in place on the island. However it is a requirement that all guests and day visitors, when booking in, obtain permission to light a fire during their stay. Should weather conditions deteriorate during your stay, the on-site caretakers will notify all guests of the impact on fires.

The Fraser Island Research and Learning Centre has a range of facilities with options for campers, researchers and school groups.

Modern toilet and shower facilities, covered barbeque areas, powered camping sites and cabins are all within the safety of a dingo-proof fence.

A dining area with kitchen facilities is available for self-catering and use by large groups. Please contact the on-site caretakers for kitchen hire costs.

Researchers and students have access to an open classroom for lessons or lectures.

Self-catering

The cabins are partially self-contained (microwave but no oven). Additionally, a number of barbecues are available, free-of-charge, for guest use.

Groups may hire the kitchen and dining hall for self-catering purposes. Please contact our on-site caretakers for kitchen hire costs.

Amenities for bunkhouse and campsite stays

The female and male amenities blocks provide toilets and showers for campsite and bunkhouse users.

Day-use of the site

Picnic and barbecue areas, a lawn area, picnic tables, toilets and hot showers are available for day-use by visitors. All visitors however must check-in at the site office upon arrival and be given a site briefing.

Cost
  • Vehicle charge: A$15 per vehicle up to four people then A$2.50 per person for each additional person
Policy on rubbish

Fraser Island is a World Heritage-listed site and all rubbish brought to the island by users must be taken off the island. This is the responsibility of each hirer/group and includes day visitors. Please do not leave any rubbish in the amenities block.

Check in/check out

Dilli Village operates principally as an environmental education camp. As such, we aim to remain as flexible as possible with your check in and check out times.

However, when there is another group arriving on the day of your departure, the standard departure time is 10am.
