Hosted by the USC Law School.
You are invited to join the USC Law School for an evening with His Honour Justice Peter Murphy, senior Appellate Judge in the Brisbane registry of the Family Court.
As part of USC’s Public Law Lecture series, Justice Murphy will provide valuable insights and reflections from almost 10 years at the Bench, during a time of significant developments in the Court and family law.
Justice Murphy, who began his legal career in 1978, is renowned for his engaging and empathetic approach to a difficult and emotional area of law. He was appointed a judge of the Family Court of Australia on 11 October 2007 and later became the Co-ordinating and Case Management Judge for Queensland, before being appointed to the Appeal Division of the Court in September 2012.
Prior to his Honour’s appointment to the Bench, he practiced predominantly in family law but also in criminal and discrimination law, and was a part-time member of the Anti-Discrimination and Legal Practitioners Tribunals in Queensland. Justice Murphy was a contributing editor to the Lexis Nexis Family Law in Australia series and has written and presented many papers on family law and advocacy throughout Australia.
Members of the profession, Law students and those interested in studying Law are invited to hear Justice Murphy share his reflections from the Bench.
Please register by Wednesday 16 August.
