Female undergraduate student relocating from a rural or regional area to undertake a Bachelor of Engineering degree

The Laurie Cowled Regional Scholarship has been established for the purposes of funding a female undergraduate student relocating from a rural or regional area to undertake a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

If no suitable female Bachelor of Engineering candidates apply in any given year for this scholarship, applications will be considered from female students undertaking other eligible undergraduate degrees with a focus on Mathematics within the Faculty of Science, Health and Education and Engineering, as listed below:

  • Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Science (Honours) Deans Scholars Program
  • Associate Degree in Science
  • Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science
  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science
  • Bachelor of Biomedical Science
  • Bachelor or Diploma of Nursing Science and Bachelor of Nursing Science (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Nursing Science and Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Paramedic Science
  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology / Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science

The Scholarships are paid in instalments of A$2,500 per semester, for the normal duration of the program, up to a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

A$5,000 per annum for up to 6 semesters for a 3 year program up to a maximum of A$15,000

A$5,000 per annum for up to 8 semesters for a 4 or 5 year program up to a maximum of A$20,000

Eligibility:
  • commencing full time female student, in first undergraduate program
  • relocating from a regional or remote area to study at USC
  • permanent resident of Australia, Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa Holder
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering (or another degree with a focus on Mathematics within the Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering), as listed (see below for the listing of other eligible undergraduate degrees).
Selection criteria:
  • high academic achiever, minimum OP8 (or equivalent)
  • financial need
  • preference will be given to a student enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering degree
