With nationally accredited facilities, year-round idyllic conditions and dedicated athlete support resources, USC is fast becoming a national leader in high performance sport and a university that ensures our athletes are well placed for continued success during their competitive career and beyond. The results speak for themselves with twelve USC athletes representing Australia at the Rio games in 2016.

Sunshine Coast Lightning

Australia’s newest sports franchise is set to strike into netball’s elite national competition in 2017 with the Sunshine Coast Lightning based at USC.

A joint venture between Melbourne Storm and the University of the Sunshine Coast, the partnership has galvanised USC to develop a strong brand around high-performance sport and invest in developing its facilities to a new level.

Student athlete support

USC is a member of the AIS Elite Athlete Friendly University network and is committed to supporting high performance student athletes as they strive for excellence in both their sport and their study.

The High Performance Student Athlete program provides a suite of benefits and services to assist you in balancing the demands of your training and competition schedules with your study commitments so you can achieve your personal best in both pursuits


USC Sport and Exercise Science Research has a strong focus on applied research that directly impacts athlete performance and has produced a body of work that includes biomechanics, exercise physiology, psychology, coaching, and motor control and learning.

USC Sport and Exercise Science Research laboratories are accredited by the AIS, and are used to assess national and international level athletes.
