The first Research Showcase event ‘Partnering for Health – A USC Research Showcase’ will feature the current and emerging Health research partnerships between USC staff and students and our Health partners across a range of Health disciplines and networks. A prize of $1,000 will be awarded for the Best Research Presentation.

HDR Day — Tuesday 11 July

Time: 9.45am–3.30pm

All Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and Honours students are invited to attend HDR Day as part of the USC Research Showcase.

Partnering for Health — Wednesday 12 July

Time: 9.30am–7pm

USC staff and students and our external Health research partners and collaborators are invited to attend and / or present their USC human health partnerships research.

The day will commence at 9.30am with four sessions running during the day. A poster session with drinks and nibbles will commence at 5.10pm which will be followed by a keynote invited speaker and a Panel Discussion on "Should USC undertake Health research?" between universities and external Health stakeholders.

Prizes for poster include:

  • A$1,000 for best HDR/Honours Poster Presentation
  • A$1,000 for best Poster Presentation

Research Showcase — Thursday 13 July

Keynote presentation, 3 minute thesis and Minute to win it

Time: 9am–11.30am

The day will commence with a presentation by Professor John Bartlett, Executive Dean, Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering. This will be followed by our HDR candidates competing in the 3 Minute Thesis Competition.

The morning will conclude with the fast paced "Minute to Win it" which is an opportunity for USC academics to showcase their research in one minute and win $1,000. That's a rate of $60,000 per hour. Participants are allowed one slide to support their talk — their slide must be static and cannot contain any audio. Please note, "A Minute to Win It" is not open to HDR candidates.
