HDR Student's Induction


Targeted at commencing Higher Degree by Research students, this Induction provides students with all of the information they need to get started as a research student at USC.

The Induction is offered in blended delivery:

  • Recordings that students are required to watch before attending an on-campus Induction (Access the recordings on the USC Portal, USC login required)
  • A full day of research introduction sessions delivered on-campus at Sippy Downs, four times per year (content below)

The HDR Student's Induction is a compulsory requirement for all newly commencing students. All HDR students are expected to complete both the off-campus and on-campus components of the Induction. Principal Supervisors may requests for exemption for their students. These requests will be considered by the Research Degrees Committee on a case-by-case basis.
