How to defer
Students who are offered a place in an undergraduate program or Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) at the University of the Sunshine Coast may choose to defer enrolment in that program for up to 2 years.
Applicants who wish to defer their place must respond to the Notice of Offer from QTAC and the University as soon as possible after receipt of the offer and no later than Census Date in the semester of offer.
Deferment is not available to non-award students (ie Headstart, Visiting, Cross-Institutional) except Study Abroad and International Exchange students.
Note: Deferment is not available for postgraduate or Honours programs.
How to defer your offer
Login to USC Central with the username and the initial password provided in your USC letter of offer.
- Defer your offer in USC Central up until Census Date by selecting the 'Defer offer' option on the Select Response to offer page. Refer to the Respond to your offer video in the USC Central Guide for the steps to be completed.
- QTAC Applicants must also defer their offer with QTAC by the date specified.
If you decide to defer your offer after initially accepting it, you must advise both the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and Student Administration of your decision (applicants who applied directly to USC, only need to advise Student Administration).
You are guaranteed a place in the program for which the original offer was made for up to 2 years, providing the program is available to commencing students in that year.
If the program is no longer offered or has been substantially changed, the University will endeavour to offer you a place in an appropriate alternative program.
Not all programs are available for mid-year entry—refer to the program description for your preferred program for commencement details.
How to take up your deferred place
Students wishing to take up a deferred undergraduate place or a Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) place, must download and complete the Application to take up a deferred place form and submit it to Student Administration before the due date.
If you would like to apply for a different program, you are required to re-apply through Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
