How to defer

Students who are offered a place in the Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) or an undergraduate program at the University of the Sunshine Coast may choose to defer enrolment in that program for up to two years.

Applicants who wish to defer their place must respond to the Notice of Offer from QTAC and the University as soon as possible after receipt of the offer and no later than Census Date in the semester of offer.

Deferment is not available to non-award students (ie Headstart, Visiting, Cross-Institutional) except Study Abroad and International Exchange students.

Note: Deferment is no longer available for postgraduate or Honours programs.

How to defer your offer

If you decide to defer your offer, you must advise the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and Student Administration of your decision (applicants who applied direct to USC on completion of TPP only need to advise Student Administration).

You are guaranteed a place in the program for which the original offer was made, providing that the program is available to commencing students in that year.

If the program is no longer offered or has been substantially changed, the University will endeavour to offer you a place in an appropriate alternative program. 

Not all programs are available for mid-year entry—refer to the program description for your preferred program for commencement details.

How to take up your deferred place

Undergraduate and TPP: If you are now ready to take up your deferred place, submit an application directly to the University of the Sunshine Coast.

If you would like to apply for a different program, you are required to re-apply through Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).

Postgraduate: If you deferred your place before Semester 2, 2011 and you are now ready to take up your deferred place, submit an application directly to the University of the Sunshine Coast.
