Orientation

Orientation is held at the beginning of each semester in the week prior to commencement of classes. It is designed to help you to settle in to university life and includes activities to help you get to know the campus, learn about academic expectations and assessment, access resources and services and do practical things like get your student ID card and set-up your online access. Orientation is also a great time to meet students and staff, make new friends and have some fun!

  • Attend an Introduction to the Library workshop
  • Schedule in some of the Skills for Success workshops to fine tune your academic writing and study skills and learn the basics of managing stress
  • View the range of online tutorials at the Train Station under My Organisations in the Portal (Blackboard) (http://online.usc.edu.au)
  • Find out about IT Support on campus.
  • Talk to the staff at Student Administration about any enrolment difficulties. Located in Student Central, Building C
  • Have your student ID photo taken at Student Central
  • Check out the Information Stall located near Student Central between 1 and 3 pm daily. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and provide information on the support services available on campus
  • Ask any of the student Mentors you may see around campus for help. Mentors will be wearing a distinctive purple T Shirt and will be happy to give you a hand

Plenty of support is available to help you get off to a good start. Make the most of it and good luck with your studies.

Post Orientation
New student survey

Shortly after orientation you will receive a new student survey email. This is your opportunity to give feedback on your orientation experience and provide any thoughts and recommendations for future improvement. This survey is confidential and your honest feedback is welcome and highly valued. We encourage you to please take part as information will help us to improve future orientation events.
