Study in Business and IT

The University of the Sunshine Coast prides itself on an innovative approach to business and IT education, giving students the confidence to aim high in the careers market.

USC’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) graduates will have the world at their feet as they plunge into one of Queensland’s most dynamic and fastest growing sectors.

According to the Queensland state government, Queensland boasts a vibrant and diverse ICT industry which employs 80,000 people, has 4600 employing businesses, and generates $29 billion in revenues and $1.15 billion in exports.

At USC, a Bachelor of ICT features small class sizes to allow for high staff-to-student interaction and offers internships with proven companies to gain valuable industry experience.

The degree leads to exciting career opportunities in fields such as business systems analysis, ICT support, network engineering, systems architecture/integration, database programming and web programming.

USC offers a range of business programs where students can major and/or minor in accounting, financial planning, human resource management, information systems, international business, tourism, leisure and event management, marketing, management and property.

A business degree can open many doors for graduates with jobs in the areas of business management, human resource management, marketing management, market research, international business, importing/exporting, industrial relations, tourism and hospitality management, retail/sales, computing, and systems analysis.

If you dream of starting up your own business, USC offers courses in entrepreneurship for enterprising students. Courses feature team projects, simulations, field work and workshops to give students the skills they need in the make-or-break world of business.

Although natural disasters and the global financial crisis have taken their toll on Queensland tourism over the past year, the industry still employs 220,000 people, directly and indirectly, and contributes $7.8 billion into the economy.

With a Bachelor of Property Economics and Development, there are career opportunities in development, project management, property and asset management, facilities management, property investment analysis, property valuation, and real estate sales.

If you have a passion for research, you can choose to do a Master of Business by Research or Doctor of Philosophy (Business). A range of supervised research areas are available to higher degree students including accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, international business, marketing, management and tourism.
