Eligibility to graduate

Students who have completed all of the requirements for their degree, but have not yet had their degree conferred, are referred to as 'graduands'. To be eligible to graduate, you are required to complete the four steps below.

Step 1. Check personal details

Notices regarding Graduation are mailed to your current postal address as listed on USCCentral. To ensure you receive all notifications, update your contact details on USC Central as soon as your postal address changes. You should also check your USC student email account regularly for any Graduation notifications.

Step 2. Identified as eligible

All students will receive notification from Student Administration to their USC student email account in the last semester / session of enrolment. This notification requests that you check your degree and personal information and advises of your potential eligibility to graduate.

It is essential you check this notification to ensure you complete your final semester / session of study with the correct degree name and degree requirements.

Students should contact Student Administration if you have not received notification and believe you are eligible to graduate at the end of your current semester / session.

If your notification does not match your expectations, contact Student Administration immediately.

Step 3. Completion of program

After results are finalised and released for your last semester / session of study, graduands receive a Statement of Completion. This confirms you as eligible to graduate. *

The Statement of Completion can be used as proof of your degree status with employers until your official Degree Certificate (testamur) is presented at the Graduation ceremony.

Contact Student Administration if you have not received notification and believe you are eligible to graduate.

* USC recommends graduands and families book travel arrangements to the ceremony only once the ceremony date and the graduand's completion of program has been confirmed in writing.

Step 4. Paid outstanding fees

Please view your financial status on USC Central and ensure you pay all outstanding fees or charges and return any Library items to the Library Loans Desk no later than four weeks prior to your graduation ceremony date.

If you fail to do so, your award may not be conferred and you may not be able to graduate or receive your Degree Certificate (testamur).

To pay your fees you need to generate an invoice via USC Central—payment options are printed on your invoice. If you cannot generate an invoice, email fees@usc.edu.au for assistance.
